Job Type

Our client in Gillette, Wyoming is looking for a full-time mixed animal Veterinarian to join their team.

They have a full service, mixed animal hospital that cares primarily for dogs and cats, horses, and cows, although they do occasionally treat some pocket pets and other large animals (goats, pigs, llamas, donkeys). Their hospital was founded in 30 years ago, they now have 11 veterinarians and have worked very hard to build a collaborative team, which helps them provide the best care to every patient. They have been a staple in the community for almost 30 years and they are very passionate about giving back. They proudly support events like 4-H, rodeos, various youth activities, and the local animal shelter.

Their hospital is fully equipped to treat small and large animals. In the small animal hospital, we have six exam rooms, a surgery suite, Sound-Elkin digital radiography, digital dental radiography, and GE Logic digital ultrasound with Doppler. Any images needing further interpretation can be sent out to PetRays. Dentistry is a large portion of the caseload, and they practice the gold standard of care. They take full mouth radiographs on every patient, and they also send any new veterinarians and technicians to a continuing education course with a board-certified dentist for advanced training in dentistry. In the large animal hospital, they have an equine exam area with the same ultrasound and radiography as in the small animal hospital, endoscopy, a surgical area for procedures that do not require intubation, cattle chute, seven stalls in a heated barn, two clinic trucks available for house calls, and an Arthrex ACS and PRP system, which can be used for dogs, too. They went paperless in 2008 and use Cornerstone for their electronic medical records. They also have boarding, grooming, cremation services, and a pet food outlet in the building.

The ideal candidate enjoys a fast-paced environment, is comfortable working with dogs, cats, horses, and cows, and is a team player. The hospital could provide mentorship to a new grad, because they have veterinarians with a wide variety of interests and experience, as well as a diverse patient caseload. All their doctors rotate through weekend and weeknight on call shifts, so some on call responsibilities are required. The breakdown of companion animal to large animal is 60% companion animal, 30% equine, and 10% cow/calf.

There are so many places to explore in Wyoming and its surrounding states, including the beautiful National Parks and Monuments, like Yellowstone, the Badlands, the Bighorn Mountains, and Devils Tower. Wyoming is also known for its outdoor recreational activities, including snow skiing, snowboarding, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing.

Our client takes the health and well-being of their employees seriously, offering flexible working conditions and encouraging a well-rounded work/life balance. They offer a great compensation package, including a competitive salary, health insurance, 401K, PTO, generous CE allowance, additional PTO for CE, and reimbursement for membership dues and license fees.
